Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with older routers and know how to work it better than those of ..., CM1000 is NOT a router. It it just a bridged cable modem. there are no DNS settings in any NTGR or other vendors "cable modems" I think you are looking for a "modem Router" or "router" which has routing and DNS configurations.
