They define surfaces where support should and should not be applied. They do NOT act like keep out areas. They also do NOT apply to the print bed, only to the model. I just printed something with Cura Tree support enabled. It handled so much better the support than this new Organic support, in Cura it needed only one tree to accomplish all where support was needed (only 4 point on the print) where in this new alpha, prusa slicer makes 3 tree support for these 4 point on the print..I find that the little 1, 2, or 3mm gaps are hard and the short organic supports get stuck to the model. What I do it print the model up in the air and have longer supports. Therefore they come off easier.
